H2H Pillow Project Collaboration
A few months ago, we had the opportunity to share the remarkable work done by the Heart2Heart team with the Northern Beaches Council Workforce and Technology Division. They were touched by how the heart pillows warmed the hearts of the children and their families at Bear Cottage. We’ve shared that it has become a cherished tradition of H2H to give 200 heart pillows every Christmas to Bear Cottage Manly. So much so, that after the presentation many were interested in volunteering to help make the pillows. In addition, the HR Executive Manager and the Director supported the idea and made it happen last Tuesday. They had a Volunteer Day where employees used their volunteer leave to help make the 200 pillows as part of their Thrive and Wellbeing Program.
They gathered together on Tuesday and made 162 pillows sewn, 25 are still to be handsewn, while the remaining 30+ are ready to stuff and handsewn. The volunteers said they are going to finish the 200 heart pillows and are already planning a lunch event where they can sit together again while sewing. What a great idea and good teamwork! Those who came said they really enjoyed it and loved the idea they could be a part of such a good cause.
This collaboration holds a special place in our hearts and we thank the council’s Workforce & Technology Division for their generosity and willingness to volunteer their time and skills in making the 200 heart pillows. Those who did not make it on the day made donations to cover the costs of the materials. The Director came and did some sewing too. The Community Event manager at Bear Cottage came to see the work of the volunteers and was touched when she saw the piles of pillows made.
Once again, a big thank you to the caring and compassionate individuals in our local council. A special Thank you to their EM and Director for their leadership and willingness to champion causes that make a difference in our community.
